A New Chapter in Alternative Provision: NewHeart Learning Opens in 2026

We are incredibly proud to share that NewHeart Learning, a new alternative provision school for 11 to 16-year-olds, will be opening its doors later this year in 2026.

NewHeart Learning has been created with one clear purpose: to provide a safe, nurturing and empowering learning environment for children and young people who have struggled to thrive in mainstream education. We welcome pupils with EHCPs and are committed to helping every child feel supported, valued and ready to succeed.

Why NewHeart Learning?

Many young people who attend alternative provision have experienced challenges that go far beyond the classroom. Anxiety, trauma, unmet needs and disrupted education can all impact confidence and engagement.

At NewHeart Learning, we take a trauma-informed, nurture-led approach that puts emotional well-being first. By creating a calm, predictable and supportive environment, we help pupils feel safe and understood. From there, learning can flourish, and children can build resilience, hope, and self-belief.

Our provision is built around:

  • Small class sizes for personalised attention
  • Strong, trusting relationships
  • Individualised learning pathways
  • Focus on emotional regulation, wellbeing and empowerment
  • High expectations delivered with compassion and care

Opening in 2026

As we prepare to open later this year, we are excited to begin building a community of staff, families and professionals who share our vision of equality, achievement and togetherness. This early stage is about laying strong foundations and ensuring that every child who joins us feels welcomed, supported and ready to take their next steps.

We Are Recruiting: Join Our Team

To support our opening, we are currently recruiting for the following roles:

Teachers (2 vacancies)

We are looking for passionate, committed teachers who:

  • Believe in relationship-led education
  • Understand the impact of trauma on learning
  • Are adaptable, patient and reflective practitioners
  • Want to make a meaningful difference in children’s lives

Experience in alternative provision, SEND or nurture-based settings is welcomed, but above all we are looking for individuals who share our values of nurture, empowerment, wellbeing and resilience.

Teaching Assistant

This role is ideal for someone who:

  • Enjoys working closely with children on a 1:1 or small group basis
  • Can provide consistent emotional support
  • Is calm, caring and resilient
  • Wants to be part of a supportive and values-driven team

Why Work at NewHeart Learning?

Joining NewHeart Learning means becoming part of something from the very beginning. We are committed to supporting our staff just as much as our pupils.

You can expect:

  • A nurturing, supportive working environment
  • Opportunities to shape and grow a new provision
  • Ongoing professional development
  • A team culture built on trust, collaboration and empowerment

Working in alternative provision can be challenging, but it is also incredibly rewarding. Progress may not always be measured in grades, but in confidence, engagement and achievement.
